Filipino beauty queen-turned-actor Kylie Verzosa recently announced that she has partnered with a company in San Francisco to make an artificial intelligence (AI) model of herself, reportedly making her the first female celebrity in Asia to do so.
When it happened: Verzosa, 31, announced the news at the Sigma Asia Summit 2023 panel held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Philippines, on July 21.
What she said: Speaking at the forum, which was titled “The future of technology and how it affects youth empowerment, legacy brands, tourism, and social media,” the 2016 Miss International winner announced that she had "partnered up with some developers in San Francisco to create an AI model version of myself.”
“But it’s going to take some time because I’m the first girl in Asia that’s going to be able to do it, so it could still use a bit of improvement,” Verzosa added, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

What the AI is for: As a mental health advocate, Verzosa will use her AI model to help Filipinos with their mental health concerns.
“With recent issues, I knew that it was quite a struggle for an AI model to talk about mental health because it was such a touchy subject, especially for the youth here in the Philippines,” she said during the panel.

The current issue: Speaking to the Inquirer, Verzosa said that the AI model still needs “a few improvements."
"We could still deepen its Tagalog, its pitch was a little bit higher," she shared. "It spoke a little bit faster than I did. The Tagalog wasn’t so Tagalog enough the way I wanted it to."
Verzosa further noted that despite the flaws, she does not want her AI model to be perfect, saying, “I’m not perfect, you know? So, maybe it depends per AI model, but I don’t want mine to be perfect. I don’t think AI should be a perfect being or any model should be perfect.”

About Verzosa: At the age of 24, the Filipino celebrity became the sixth Miss International winner from the Philippines after Gemma Cruz (1964), Aurora Pijuan (1970), Melanie Marquez (1979), Precious Lara Quigaman (2005) and Bea Rose Santiago (2013) when she won the crown in 2016.
She has appeared in several TV shows and movies since then, including the 2021 film “The Housemaid.” For her role as Daisy in that film, she won the Best Actress award at the 2022 Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards in Dubai.
