Purisima named acting presidential adviser on peace

President Marcos has appointed Isidro Purisima as acting presidential adviser on peace, reconciliation and unity (Opapru), Malacañang said on Tuesday. Other government officials have also been appointed, including former police official Wilben Mayor, Valerie Joy Brion, Gabriel Lagamayo, Julieta Opulencia, Senando Santiago, and Emerico De Guzman as members of the employer sector of the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council and Flora Bonales, Director 4 of the Department of Trade and Industry. Mr. Marcos administered the oath of office of Benito Techico as Special Envoy of the President to the People’s Republic of China for Trade, Investments and Tourism.

President Marcos has appointed Isidro Purisima as acting presidential adviser on peace, reconciliation and unity (Opapru), Malacañang said on Tuesday.

Purisima replaced Carlito Galvez Jr. who was appointed defense secretary in January this year. Prior to his new position, Purisima served as presidential assistant for local conflict transformation and peace sustainability under Opapru.

Aside from Purisima, the President also appointed former police official Wilben Mayor as Presidential Assistant I at Opapru while Valerie Joy Brion was named Executive Director V of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas and Gabriel Lagamayo as acting administrator and member of the Dairy Industry Board of the National Dairy Authority.

Mr. Marcos also designated Domingo Bartolome Gonzaga as Director II of National Meat Inspection Service, Julieta Opulencia as Deputy Executive Director 3 of Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries, Senando Santiago as acting general manager and chief executive officer and member of the board of directors of the Laguna Lake Development Authority and Virginia Oroco as acting member, representing agrarian reform beneficiaries of the board of directors of Land Bank of the Philippines.

The chief executive also named Emerico De Guzman as member, representing the employer sector of the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council and Flora Bonales, Director 4 of the Department of Trade and Industry.

Purisima and other government officials took their oath of office before the President in Malacañang on Monday.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Marcos also administered the oath of office of Benito Techico as Special Envoy of the President to the People’s Republic of China for Trade, Investments and Tourism. INQ
